10 Things to keep in mind for your Ladakh trip
1. It’s important to carry a post-paid connection of either Airtel or BSNL. BSNL gives better connectivity in the remotest areas.
2. If you wish to consume alcohol, remember to carry it with you because there’s almost no alcohol available in Ladakh. You can only get it in black at certain places which is strongly not advisable.
3. 3 days in a week, you will not find non-veg food in any restaurant due to some puja. This happens in alternate days
4. Do not rely on electricity to charge your devices as there are frequent outages. Carry a power bank
5. Do try out the local restaurants, they’ll surprise you. We tried out some delicious kebabs in Ridhus Kashmiri Wazwaan and some Asian food in Ri-Yul in the Mall road.
6. Do carry basic medications for nausea, dehydration, fever, headache, gastric problem. If you are prone to AMC (Acute mountain sickness), consult your doctor before travelling. Carry some dark chocolates or dried apricots (readily available in the local shops) to ease nausea.
7. Don’t wait to reach to the destination to capture images and videos, the entire journey is beautiful, so keep your camera ready.
8. Don’t make your trip very hectic, keep some buffer time to just relax to acclimatize with the weather. Keep drink lot of water to stay hydrated.
9. Do not book your trip from Thrillophillia. Try a local agency instead. There are various car and bike rental agencies available for bookings. Do your own hotel bookings for accommodation of your choices. Refer to our blog “Leh’d in Ladakh” for itinerary ideas.
10. At last, no matter what happens, enjoy your trip. It’s gonna be something that you have never seen before and you will never find again and it’s a matter of pride that it’s in INDIA.
